What is minus sizing and why would I do it?
Minus sizing your tires is the process of installing new tires with a smaller inner diameter to accommodate smaller wheels on your vehicle. This process typically results in a narrower tire width and can provide for better traction and handling in winter driving conditions. When the weight of your vehicle is focused onto a smaller area, it allows the tires to cut through snow more effectively than a wider tire, hence providing better traction. It is not recommended that you do this with all-season tires, and when done with winter tires, you must understand that your car will behave differently.
